code of ethics

Why is B not part of code of ethics? I saw following part of code of ethics Place the integrity of the investment profession and the interests of clients above their own personal interests. ----------------------------------- Which of the following is a component of the Code of Ethics? CFA Institute members shall: A) disclose to their employer all matters that reasonably could be expected to interfere with their duty to their employer or ability to make unbiased and objective recommendations. B) act for the benefit of their clients and place their clients’ interests before their own. C) strive to maintain and improve their competence and the competence of others in the profession. D) consider the appropriateness and suitability of investment recommendations or actions for each portfolio or client. Your answer: C was correct! Striving to maintain and improve their competence and the competence of others in the profession is one of the components of the Code of Ethics, whereas the other statements are part of the Standards of Professional Conduct.

They are asking to segregate Code of Ethics from Standards of Professional Conduct. Choice A, B, D falls in SoPH while choice C falls in CoE

I saw this question too in qbank and had the same issue.

but Dinesh the 2nd code reads “Place the integrity of investment profession & interests of clients above your own personal interest” agree, C is a better choice as its a straight lift from the code, but how is B wrong?

agree with you delhi, Hope the final exam is cleaner than this… C just wins a bit over B. So would have guessed on C.
