If let you choose it again, would you be a computer scientist/programmer over M&A banker? I heard there is a survery recently that more people are choosing to enroll in computer science / engineering master program.
It’s hot in India where US firms out source all their software development. Thats why so few enroll in CS programs and why I switched majors from CS to Economics.
No, because I have no computer science skills. comp_sci_kid may have a different opinion, though.
you have to love CS to do.
My undergraduate study was computer engineering…since I know how much I hated programming, they I got my degree and it is collecting dust.

Yeah in India its very hot but. Where as if a firm post very good revenue and profit result in USA you may expect a bonus of something like $40k in India “k” will not be there
no… because I like Finance and not programming (even though I’m good at it). I could care less if programming is “hotter” than Finance right now.
Finance is the only thing I ever wanted to do. Have fun writing code, Samir.
All my friends who went into programming (they mostly do development) really enjoyed it. They love the problems, the challenge, and ability to create and develop good code. They say its all about being smart and having raw brain power to figure out problems. Coding is the easy part.

Just don’t look at your feet when you talk to them. Also don’t be cheap. Most girls think cs or engin makes a comfortable living but if your being cheap with them thats a big turn off.
Computer Science was hot in 1980s and 1990s. Now it is practically irrelevant. Hot areas are Biomedical/Biotech/Electrical Engg/Material Science etc.
I mean no offense at all, because I know some AF’ers live double lives/past lives as programmers, but you couldn’t pay me enough to be a computer programmer. It’s not about what’s hot, or where the economy is making jobs in the near future. It’s about finding gainful employment and doing something that you absolutely enjoy, maybe even love. Someone posted a quote recently (by Plato maybe?) that said "If a man doesn’t enjoy his job, he’ll never work another day in his life. Find employment in a field your interested in, despite the fact that you might have seen “Wall Street” or “Boiler Room” when you were young and instantly fell in love with fast cars and fast women
Reggie, are you aliasing as Mobius Striptease? Your style and wit match!
Haha no just a young male from Ontario, out of Alberta now. Don’t recognize this Mobius Striptease name?
