Contacting hiring manager

Any advice to this is appreciated.

I interviewed with a firm back in last year. Everything went well and they were going to check my references. But for some reason, they were taking long time with reference checking and I received another offer from another firm which I wasnt really interested. So I told them that I received an offer from another place and have few days to get back to them. I also told them that offer that I just received is not my first choice and I would love to work for them if they decide to finalize and make an offer. They mentioned that for some reason, they will need more time and told me to take the offer with another firm not to risk of losing out on offer in hand. I had no choice since my previous firm was closing down and took the offer that I wasnt really interested.

a year later, the hiring manager called me up again and asked me if I am still interested to joining them. I told them yes and they said they wanted to see me for another interview. I went on to see them and been told that they are waiting for money to come in to set up a new fund and they are expecting that that will come in at the end of month. When that happens they will bring me on board. A Month passes by and no response. I sent him an email and been told that there are some delay in the process and it will take another month to get the money. So I waited another month. Still no response. I sent them another email but no reply.

Should I give them a call or send him another email asking about the status, or should I forget and move on to look for another job?

thanks for reading.

i would just move on. They didnt contact you. Which means they didnt get the money. If they contact you again, then you can reconsider…
