why do we deduct monetary and nonmonetary costs from futures and not forwards. A forward can be on an phyiscail asset/stock, so whats the difference in that aspect?

They just introduce some of these topics in odd ways. For both futures and forward, you deduct the present value of benefits and add the present value of costs to the spot price in the valuation.
