courses suggestion

I am currently enrolled in the EMBA at a top-20 school. My background is PhD in engineering from a top-10 grad school, 10 years in the operation and risk management at the energy/utility industry. I also have some background in financial risk management. I am trying to switch to energy research after finishing b-school. I know EMBA will not be enough, so my plan also include writing CFA level 2 this June. On top of it, are there some courses that would boost my chance of entering the finance industry? Someone suggest that I should take some advanced financial statement analysis courses. Any other thoughts? Economics? Another question is what would the starting pay package for the energy research be? Let’s say at some mid-size shops at Houston. Thanks a lot!

Just curious – have you considered banking? With your background a hire into say AS or VP should be feasible. Some would consider the career prospects better there than in ER.

What do you mean exactly by ‘banking’? DarienHacker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just curious – have you considered banking? With > your background a hire into say AS or VP should be > feasible. Some would consider the career > prospects better there than in ER.

Darien, do you mind sharing your perspectives on the differences between IB and ER? My impression is that IB is a lot more stressful than ER, and is more suitable for young guys?
