cramer on the daily show

did anyone catch cramer on the daily show with jon stewart today? cramer has really been getting it from stewart.

Right, because John Stewart is a financial genius.

He may not be a financial genius, but he seriously kicked Jim Cramers a$$ in the interview… Kramer couldnt do anything but apologize by the end of the interview. The interview exposed Cramer and CNBC as crooks… Jon Stewart is no financial genius, but he came really well prepared… I was really in shock watching it… Very uncomfortable

yeah i really thought cramer would have some arguments ready but he just seemed to have no answers, just all apologetic.

When you’re the host on your own show you tend to make yourself look good. Put Stewart on Fast Money or have David Faber hound his @ss about alternatives to TARP and TALF and I have a feeling he won’t be as quick with the zingers.

You are right, off his own show he wouldnt look as good… But his argument was presented really well, even tho it was in fact his own show… He wasnt there to battle Cramer on stocks as much as it was on the basic duties of CNBC to its viewers. You should check out the interview, really feel like its worth the time to see…

Stewart was armed with populist sound bites as usual but his understanding of the situation is simplistic at best.

Stewarts knowledge is very simplistic… But the clips of Cramer talking about how to short and manipulate prices (def not a CFA)… The Cramer says that was hypothetical and he would never do it… Then the next clip is him saying that he did it… Just made him look foolish… Stewart probably lost a ton of money this yr and is lookin to blame someone… But regardless of simplistic knowledge and revenge factor, he made strong points…

This all looks way too fixed to me. First Santelli canceled now they send Cramer out there so unprepared. Seems like to me it was CNBC’s sacrifice to get the media off their ass.

I agree in general but not in this case. It would have gone down the same way on Fast Money or any other show. He took down Crossfire a few years ago ON THEIR OWN SHOW using a similar method. The show was cancelled after he did this. Go to youtube and type in “jon stewart crossfire” and watch it. Or you can read about it on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossfire_(TV_series) His point was not a financial analysis, but a social commentary on the corruption on Wall Street and how CNBC was in bed with them the whole time. He makes this point REALLY WELL. Go to the daily show website and check it out, it’s quite good. He’s been absolutely destroying CNBC and their cavalier attitude (well the CEO said it so it must be true) towards journalism.

i think cramer did a decent job. yeah, he sounded apologetic, but if he were to have fought with stewart, he would have been deemed a wall street type and hounded more by stewart. also, stewart said cnbc and cramer need to do their due diligence about corporate lies. it is a lot harder than stewart thinks. corporate fraud is sometimes extremely hard to detect, and sometimes can take years to find. the sec and over governmental agencies are looking into fraud claims about information that was released to Mad Money from exec interviews. as for stewart losing money, i am sure he was a madoff client.

The best satirical comedy points out the absurdity that is right in front of our face, but we fail to see…

Jim Cramer embarrassed himself, with hat in hand, as a guest on the Jon Stewart show. Seriously, dude, why go on the show, if you are going to act like a pansy? Cramer allowed himself to be humiliated for no good reason. I have never seen anything like it. In an odd twist of irony, mixed with woeful inadequacy on behalf of the media, it took a fcuking clown on a Comedy channel to bring Cramer into the public view, to deliver a much deserved “he-man bitch slap.”

b-b-b-b-b-booyah! Is there a way to short Cramer?

I despise Cramer. Am I the only one? http://online.barrons.com/article/SB123397107399659271.html Reminds me of a Daj224 in a way. Pushing his picks that just don’t work out in the end (Daj and CMG).

I don’t mind Cramer that much. I would say his show adds more value to society than his previous gig as a hedge fund manager, which his video clips show may have been market manipulation more than anything. While I am not personally interested in the show, I can see the entertainment value to some. Let’s face it, stock picking - and pitching, is kind of fun! Even Jon Stewart said it was “unfortunate” that Jim Cramer has been made into the face of this issue, because he is only a minor offender. The entire network is to blame for putting out shabby content and going along with the whole thing and then condemning homeowners for getting caught up in it too. I think the lesson is that people who live in glass houses should be careful when throwing stones.

anyone have a link?

http://www.thedailyshow.com/ This particular interview just aired last night. You can watch the full episode or just videos of the segments on the website. You might want to watch the clips from previous episodes to get the background, since the feud between Jon Stewart and CNBC has been going on for over a week now. I’m sure you can search youtube and find it easily too.

I didn’t watch it but watched snippets on CNN this morning and my reaction was that Stewart already had something on Cramer before they went on stage. I think Stewart went to Cramer and said, look I can prove this and this and demonstrate what a buffoon you are. And Cramer said, ok let me off the hook easy and I will apologize. That’s the only explanation I could come up with for Cramer’s docile demeanor. That or Cramer really doesn’t know his behind from his head.

Stewart vs. Cramer. Now, that was good TV!! Anyway, some of my thoughts: 1) It was not a fight at all. It was Stewart all the way. He was very well prepared, especially with the footage of Cramer’s interview about how to manipulate the market and make easy money by shorting shares. Cramer on the other hand seemed completely out of it, he did not fight back at all (which was a pretty big surprise to me, considering his personality). 2) Cramer seemed contrite and apologetic throughout the interview, which was a welcome change (since saying I made a mistake should not be such a difficult thing). Any financial commentator who is not a little humble about the market since the meltdown last year (did anyone really predict demise of Bear Sterns/AIG/Lehman?) is just a blowhard (at least in my book) 3) Even though I am a big fan of Stewart, he did come across as a little too serious (for a comedian!!). But who can blame him, I mean somebody has to ask some tough questions about the role of financial media in this meltdown (I know that CNBC is not going to do it :-). As Stewart asked repeatedly, who is CNBC for? Is it for the Wall Street traders or the regular investors (401k investors and general public)? PS: For those of you who think Stewart was able to put Cramer on the spot, only because he was hosting his own show, need to check out the Crossfire interview (as somebody else also pointed out).
