I have squirrels in my attic. Just found out they’ve been chewing through my air ducts. Those damn things will chew anything.
Unfortunately, getting rid of them is a complete pain in the ass. Not only to you have to be sure you kill every last one of them, but then you have to go around the outside of your house and patch up any openings otherwise new ones will just come back.
Squirrels are total dicks.
The house I bought in 2012 had been vacant for over a year, with a missing gable vent on the roof. There were multple dead squirrels on the property, so I knew someone have been posioning them to control the problem. I repaired the gable vent so that the squirrels could not return, and went about my business. Fast forward to last month, when I began a remodel on the top floor of my house. I was planning on adding a gable and turning 1 big open room in to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. I tore out the existing ceiling and found 5 or so squirrel nests, and no fewer than 10 dead squirrels in various stages of petrification. I didn’t mention any of this to my wife, for obvious reasons.
