Data mining in pass rates

I combined too sources - stats on pass rates and charters awarded (from www.newcfa.cfainstitute.org). Results are below. Couldn’t find passes in 2009, though remember they were around 9000. Year -----Pass L3—Charters---- % 1998------3895 ------3580 ------ 92% 1999------ 5015------ 4570------ 91% 2000------ 6274------ 5754------ 92% 2001------ 9410------ 8421------ 89% 2002------ 5924------ 6149------ 104% 2003------ 8816------ 7609------ 86% 2004------ 8669------ 7400------ 85% 2005------ 6083------ 5752------ 95% 2006------ 12314----10045----- 82% 2007------ 6399------ 6562----- 103% 2008------ 7720------ 4618------ 60% 2009------ 9000------ 5742------ 64% 1998- 2009------ 89519------76202— 85% Anyone know where these 15% are hiding? Now i even more demotivated. Even if you pass these exams there’s at least 10% chance that you never get your charter (2008 - 2009 trend really scares me).

not all of us work in the front office, will need a few more years to get that charter.

It doesn’t say that the 15% or the shortfall each year NEVER get their charter - likely just a matter of waiting for work experience…reason why 2 years seen the percentages over 100%…

past year students getting their charter with the current batch

If it was a matter of waiting for work experience, then after L3 pass in 1,2 or three years there should be more charters awarded, than passed. Yes, in 2007 and 2002 there were >100% ratio, but the reason - very high pass rates in previous years (2001 and 2006). May be it gets some people more than 3-4 years to gain experience, but anyway i compare not 1 or 2 year, but 10. And cumulative numbers are really bad.

Do that and there is a zero percent chance you don’t get the charter.

And learn the different spellings and usages of the word(s) “to, two, and too”.

Who cares? Get back to studying so you aren’t part of the fail column.
