hi guys, just got the cfa books , but still laidback to go through them . hoping to start by end of june. anybody there in same situation as me
I’m sitting for the test in December as well. I just started book 2 (econ). I rather finish up early and have the extra time to take exams and review everything I’ve read. Besides once summer rolls around if something fun comes up on the weekends I don’t want to have to stay in and read in fear of falling behind.
good idea . are you relying on cfa or following both cfa books and schwser comic books.
Same here…on book 2 econs at the moment. Dont wanna get stuck in the room during summer as well… Am plannign only to get the Schweser Exam sample & Qbank package. CFA curriculum + own notes sufficient?? How you all doin it?
my plan is to start from end of june cover schwser and each and every question in cfa books plus question bank + sample papers . i work in asset mgmt so have a fair idea of portfolio mgmt , rest i will find out when i physically solve the sample papers. cfa curriculam to vast and hard to retain i think unless you regularly keep taking memory pills.
I began studying with the CFA curriculum and Schweser notes in early February. I am taking my time and trying to let things sink. I have tried to stick to the CFA books but they can be a little too dense at times so I frequently use the SSN as a supplement or to fast track my studying, especially if its an area I’m familiar with.
what do you guys wish to achieve by passing level 1 . for me it would be entry to research by any luck
Taking Level 1 in December. So far have listened to half of the audio CDs and my head was spinning after the FSA sections. The details and implications of the various accounting treatments just seem to go on…and on…and on…and on. I was really taken aback by the complexity. I am glad to have already begun studying, as passing this thing is going to require the effort of a lifetime. They say the exam won’t be very quantitative, but who needs calculations when you are trying to find your way out of the LABYRINTH that is FSA…
hey guys, Mine in Dec too, I have been skimming the material and going through them - but it seems that the CFA books contain too much jargon that we wont need for the exam… My fellows advice me to concentrate on the Schwesser but its very risky since material keep on changing – For us the FSA and Ethics are the most weighted section as for L1 and we really need to be very confident in those subjects as to get every single question correct in them - Which books did you guys start with so far - I was following the CFA guidance as to start with Ethics and carry on - but my memory cant hold ethics till dec so I might leave the ethics part till the end and start with the comprehensive material. I say we MUST pass in dec ----- What you guys saying? Thanks… ahmed
I began with ethics, but as you said, I feel that it’s too much till december to keep everithing in mind. So after reading the ethics section I went to econ on schweser, finished it and now I want to go through FSA. Hope i’ll find motivation! Take care and have confidence! Good luck with your preparation!
my advice guys for economics follow cfa text as schwser bit vague and fsa definately follow cfa text ethics: download material from website and read 20 pages everyday even at work , may be 2 months before exam. rest all may be schwser . that my plan , but also each and every question in cfa text would be helpful as equity question bit confusing , schwser is pretty straight forward in that. q bank ofcourse
I have been talking to my friends who are doing level 2, most of them adviced me to dedicate time for both material - read through them both at the same time - as people who are doing level two were put down by a whole section that schewser did not cover and it was major in the exam. I am getting bit nervous now - hope i have the time to do both materials but my main plan is to focus on schweser … level_dec i pretty much like your plan - for FSA we need to focus on both and do as much questions as we can from the Qbank… Most people find CFA FSA book better and more helpful than Schweser… I will be concentrating on both material for FSA and Economics… Good luck guys.
