Hasn’t this been discussed numerous times before? The notion of an MPS and the number 72 is extremely relative. If you guys ended up in a batch of highly intelligible students, the MPS could very well be 80 and your threshold for maximum incorrect questions would decrease to ~50. And then you have to account for the CFAI’s graciousness, too… they may decide to pass only 35% of the overall population.
You may be correct. this may have been covered numerous times before. But I joined here a few months ago and to be honest I don’t see why I should have read every single post on this forum before posting something like this. Anyway that is not the point. As far as I know and as the CFAI has stated themselves they never failed anyone who got 70 and above. So it is safe to to say that you can get 72 questions wrong and still pass with flying colours and that MPS=MAX [X,70]. It is also safe to say that the CFAI are intelligent enough to estimate how the average candidate would score and design the questions in such way that only around 38% of candidates score between 68-70 or whatever the MPS is.
Also I don’t know how that is related to what I am trying to say. As if you there are many people who answered 0 questions on FRA and Econ, but answered everything else correctly and passed. This is just a theory. That probably never happened (maybe it did with topics like AI and derivatives but doubt it ever happened with a huge topic such as FRA or ethics). All i was trying to say was don’t worry vicky_cool, if you fail economics, you still can pass.
No worries. It’s good to have and to be able to express opinions & thoughts. That’s the whole point of the forum!
The only thing I was trying to insinuate is, you’re simply playing a guessing game. If you acheived a zero on an entire section and still made it through L1, chances are, you’ll be looking for shortcuts at L2 also. When you guys make it to the next level, it would be wise to prepare your mind for acing every section.
Ultimately, the goal is to pass the exam, so it is OK to look for educated shortcuts that are within your control :).
I know the feeling of waiting for L1 results, so I’ll leave you to it without getting too philosophical (as if anyone gives a crap). Good luck!
I was abit nervous about the results before I came on to AF after a solid month of staying away. Now after reading this thread i’m 1000X more stressed…
i cant seem to find the email CFAI sent out in decemeber regarding when the marks are comming out on Tuesday, is it 9am local time wherever your registered location with the CFAI is?
