Why do we have two degrees of freedom? Does someone have the explaination for this? I seemed to have forgotten it. Thanks
How many parameters have been estimated and are being used in the calculation of correlation? Two should be your answer, since you have the mean estimated for each variable and it’s needed to calculate the covariance and standard deviation (or variance) for each variable (goes into correlation estimate).
