^good point, on the retake threads I didn’t see anyone who failed again after getting a band 9 or 10 just gotta keep our heads up and crush it next year

I would definitely re-tab. Your true minimum score would be 61.67%. But that’s if you got 0’s in Alt and Quant.
I really, really have to question the wisdom of “analyzing” your score with any of the ##/##/## methods. However, that said, I understand the desire many band 10ers would have in wanting to know just how close they were, or just wanting a double check. If it were me, and I just had to know my approximate percentage, I’d go with the following: Single item sets (i.e. 6 questions for 18 points): 92/67/17 ----> i.e. 5 or 6 / 4 / 0, 1, 2, 3 correct Double (i.e. 12 questions for 36 points): 88/63/25 Quad (i.e. 24 questions for 72 points): 85/60/25 This distribution does seems to be overly positive though. Perhaps weighting the possible scores such that getting a 6/6 is less likely than a 5/6… (I think I feel a tangent coming on) And again, this assumes that you hit the mean of the sub-distribution; individual results could be anywhere within the specified percentage band.
Sounds like your score was within the questionable range and you got the bad end of the ethics adjustment. Yes, I agree, but I was referring to the issue of seemingly conflicting scores, where one gets > 70 in many sections yet fail, while some others score < 50 in a few sections, yet pass. CFAI clearly has a formula for determining the pass/fails, but for some reason they opted to make it a secret. I don’t know of any exams that don’t tell you your actual score, and instead show you “hints” of how you fared! I think it’s bad policy.
Yeah, I have to guess it was the ethics adjustment. It’s just more frustrating than beneficial to see my breakdown looking better than some of the passing scores. It leads to the question, why bother providing that grid? Anybody who passes doesn’t care very much how they got by, and those that failed don’t really want to know how close they came, except for the “band” rating. I would much rather have seen just band 10 than the breakdown that suggests I was ridiculously close. Come January/February I’m going to have to hit almost as hard as I did last time, and I already knew what my weak areas were. Well, what can you do. I’ll keep you posted on how the re-tab works out.
This was my first attempt at L2 and ended in Band 10. Regardless of what SuperiorReturn says, I feel I did pretty well. As per the marks below I had 5 sections >70 3 sections 50-70 and 2 < 70 I figure if I had worked harder on Ethics and scored >70 I would have a passed. I underestimated the difficulty of this section.
