There are a lot of optional readings in the Derivative section…worth reading it or should I just skip it?
If I am not mistaken, for the most part it is Level I stuff being reviewed, a small part of it is new “unneeded” stuff… You should know the Level I stuff anyway, but its influence on answering questions from the Level II material in small… I find that anything that you truly need to know from that stuff you do know, assuming you finished the chapter and answered EOC correctly…
I wouldn’t bother. Those are hours you could spend reviewing stuff you actually need to know.
Real easy answer: If the LOSs ask you to know, you should. I didn’t see any LOS based on those review materials. Same deal with review topics in Corp. Fin. (corp budgeting).
I felt that, in general, Derivatives were poorly represented on last years test (to my chagrin, as it’s one of my natural strengths). I’d say that if you have a general understanding if the subject, no need to read the optional stuff.
