CFA Level II Portfolio Management

Has anyone noticed that almost all of the syllabus of Derivatives is marked OPTIONAL. I am confused, that should I study it or not as topics such as Delta,Gamma,etc are all optional and a bit tricky. So, Can anybdody suggest me on how to move forward with this? Thank You in advance
