Diluted EPS question

Just came across a strange question in one of the kaplan/schwesser mocks.

There were some convertible preferene shares that were ANTI DILUTIVE. The question asked… is the company required to report diluted EPS?

I said NO as they are anti dilutive

The correct answer was yes because they are POTENTIALLY dilutive?

So do we say we are reporting diluted EPS whenever there are potentially dilutive securities, even though its identical to basic EPS?

can you put the question here?

Yes: whenever you have potentially dilutive securities, you have to report basic EPS and fully diluted EPS, even if they’re equal.

Ok, thanks

You’re welcome.
