Distance running advice?

you seem like a great guy, guy

so you’d put $5k cash on the fact that I can’t break 6 in the Sept 2017 NYC chip timed 5th Ave mile?

causseeee I like easy money

ok went all out. under 7 for sure, 6 is going to require some luck.

now off to ice my lower body

Does anybody here jog based on their heart rate? I just started monitoring mine and have slowed way down to get in the aerobic range. I just jog for general fitness. Seems some of you are fairly knowledgeable on the subject. Is there any reason I should jog any faster than the aerobic range? Definitely more enjoyable slowing it down. I’m in my early forties. I jog a few times a week. 3.25 miles.

Lol, what’s that 1 mile PR?

Nvm, just read that you extrapolated a PR that equated to a training pace of mine. Soo hacksaw.

My bad BS … somewhere along the line we mistook you saying 5:15 pace as your mile PR. I"m guessing you don’t actually have one to give us since when you focused on running it was longer distance stuff?

But whatever… the past is the past. This is NOW. I’m doing the 5th Ave mile. Last year I did 5:34, but this year I’m going to organize my training and try for 5:20… or faster!!! Now, who is going to beat me???

Haha, I’m liking the trash talk. Really hoping I can make it this year for a good AF showdown. Would be a lot of fun.

Me too BS :slightly_smiling_face: I’m not one of those people who HAS to win, but I love competition. Helps me be my best which makes me happy.

Not me. Got goaded into running a Rugged Maniac later this summer and started training over the weekend. While running was never my thing, my efforts were pathetic as I didn’t manage to get under 20 minutes for 2.2 miles either day.

^So hacksaw.

GTFO of our forum!

^ I am rather ashamed of myself. I’m thinking of getting my junk reattached so I can hacksaw it off again.

I’ll put my dough on KMD. Swan sounds like he’s got potential (and more fast-twitch muscle fiber), but given that KMD trains more regularly, she should be much lower variance in her times.

And sub-5:30 for a woman who’s almost Masters category (at least, from what I recall) is no joke. Respect.

Like I said before, 6 minute miles is considered “perfect” for male marines. For females, it’s 6:30. (Three miles)

KMD will destroy that bald headed monkey

just realized this never posted.

…still won’t work from phone. For the record I’m going to get my mile time down (working on speed for a bit). Maybe I’ll see y’all in Sept. I’ll let you know where I end up.

I had some really good 12mph interval sessions on treadmill yesterday

Oh good! You’re in too.

I was going to start a thread where we can post our mile training workouts and such. I have started with some pre-focused training as of last week.

Did you know the right way to pronounce igor is actually yi gor ?

Oh good, you’re running too SCB. Thanks for stepping up. :+1:
