Do background checks see other companies where you got an offer from?

Say I were to get an offer from company A and sign documents stating that I will work for them, and later get an offer from company B. If I really want to work for company B and they run a background check on me, would they know about the offer from company A? If I had to renege on company A, is it better to do so prior to the background check?

Dude, take a xanax…

lol i don’t think company B would ever find out you got an offer from company A. And why would that be such a bad thing? You might be able to use it as leverage to get a better compensation package. Edit: And no, I don’t think it would be good to renege on company A before B does the background check. What if you renege A, and then B comes back and says, “Oh, we were about to hire you, but our first choice has now accepted. Sorry.”? Whattayagonnado? Exactly. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Don’t reject A unless B is for CERTAIN.

The only thing left to do is complete the background check for company B. Sorry guys, I just wanna be as safe as possible.
