Do the exams change a lot every year?

Though the content is (assuming) the same every year, does the exam change a lot? Thanks

Not a lot. They still have the same number of books at least in last few years.

Exams may change year over year in terms of the content area they are focusing on. Particularly in Level II where questions are asked in vignette format, meaning there is a page long text, followed by about 6 questions based on that example. There are 120 questions (20 vignettes) total in LII, spanning about 1800 pages of review material. Clearly, you can see how a shift in focus of a few vignettes can impact the feel of the exam. Books have in fact changed very slightly nearly every year. There was a bit of a singificant overhaul back around 2008. But in general, you can study off a prior year’s books without any issue.

I heard they never repeat a question from previous years on the actual exam, so yes it changes a lot.

I took this for granted as an automatic assumption, but you’re right.

If you search the level specific forums, there is generally someone who puts together a pretty nice comparison of the LOS’s from the prior year. That should give you a pretty good idea of what, if anything, has changed.

i suppose ethics cannot change too much right?

It changes enough that one should not try studying with prior years’ materials. That’s less of an issue now that the materials come bundled with your registration. It doesn’t change so much that if you failed last year it’ll be like studying for a whole new exam.

I guess it depends on why you’re asking.

I think they do reuse questions, which is probably the main reason they are vigilant about not letting people discuss specific questions after the exam. It’s a lot of work to generate good, clear questions, so they reuse them periodically.

I’m pretty sure they don’t, reuse questions from my understanding, although I could be wrong.

Back to the original question–given that the curriculum is the same, does the exam change?

Ummm…is this a trick question? I think you need to explain a little better.
