The CFA website says that the work/education requirement for taking the CFA level 1 test can be passed by having four years of work experience that does not need to be investment related.
Does it still need to be finance/business related?
I did logistics in the Navy for five years and I’d like to know if that would meet the work requirement.
It’s true that you can sit for Level 1 with four years of work experience (including military), but keep in mind that if you want your test-taking to culminate in a CFA Charter, you will need to have four years of qualified investments industry experience accrued by that time.
So you can sit and take these exams without being in the industry, but you will never get the charter unless you have the required investments-specific experience by the time you apply for regular membership. I am assuming you are out of the Navy now and doing investments work?
