I have fail L2 this year, band 4, so sad because of my wrong approach for L2. I will register for the second time next year. Should I order for ebook only (and print the new area) or the print version. I think it’s so waste to order another huge 6-book package which not so much different. Many thanks!
CFAI’s ebook CANNOT be printed nor download to handheld ebook devices. You have to use their proprietary software to view it.
Ebook, save money. I won’t pay $60 for that big heavy box. Print them off at home / at office using their software.
umekichi, are you sure? cuz it seems to me that the ebook can be printed out (150 pg at a time): https://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprogram/courseofstudy/curriculum/Pages/cfa_curriculum_ebook.aspx
In that case, one could print to a PDF Printer and upload the generated pdf to a handheld eReader.
^ I wonder how the format would look, some ebook reader cannot display images from PDF (I assume that the formulas will be converted to images by PDF printer)
I am mistaken. It would be nicer if they make a nook/kindle/sony ebook version rather than requiring candidate to print and convert the ebook themselves

Luckily I hav a pass, but I had a strategy before the results, that if I have a fail, I would take only the ebook, because all my CFAI books are highlighted and I could revise with them and only check the new topics in the ebooks. You will save the tax por the print and the extra fee as well.
I spent the extra $50 and bought the ebook for Level 2 (passed), but was very disappointed. I loved the concept, because I hate lugging those books around, but the implementation was pretty poor in my opinion. The Bookshelf software was very clunky, I could only print 2 pages at a time (annoying if you want to print EOC questions, or if you need a break from looking at a PC monitor), the highlighting/notetaking was poor, etc. Unless they made some improvements over last year, I will not be opting for the Ebook again next year, even for an extra $20.
I like to have the actual books, they are good information and I could always go back them to in case I ever needed to remember something.
Got both so I can read the eBook version at work and the book at home. I agree that the software is pretty crappy.
Does the eBook version work with the major eBook readers - Kindle, Sony’s, the iPad?
It has been almost a week since the result excitement and the start of enrollment for L2. Did any one choose the ebook and start to read and print pages out if necessary (no need to wait for printed book to arrive)? How do you feel about the new ebook (CFAI claimed big improvement for 2011)? I think the ebook and print combo would be nice and flexible. But total extra cost of $100 for printed books with tax over ebook is a big factor. Tax applies to the full retail amount when physical printed books cross the border, but not when ebook is downloaded and printed on your own.
Download Vitalsource software first; then download the books to your desk stop. After that, you can print up to 170 pages. The software is huge and it requires a good computer and it will take a while to download.
