You can purchase the eBook and get immediate access when you register. CFA Curriculum eBook on Your iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch Our eBook partner, VitalSource, has launched a free app on iTunes that candidates can use to access the CFA curriculum eBook on Apple devices, including iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Important notes * The functionality of the mobile device app is limited in comparison to the personal computer version of the VitalSource Bookshelf software. For example, notes and highlights are viewable, but users cannot make new notes from the app at this time. The app does, however, have search capability. * CFA Institute is exploring new file formats to that will render the eBook more clearly on a wider range of devices. The 2011 eBook, however, is not optimized for mobile devices and thus the text on iPod Touch and iPhones is very small. The app has zoom capability, but at the expense of easy navigation. * Use of the app will not affect your ability to download the eBook onto a personal computer. Candidates can now download their curriculum on up to two compatible mobile devices in addition to two personal computers. Additionally, candidates can access the online version of the eBook through online.vitalsource.com from any compatible internet browser. * The app itself installs very quickly, but individual curriculum volumes may take several minutes to download because of large file sizes. * iPhone users can only download curriculum volumes when wifi access is available. The installation program will automatically determine whether your computer needs .NET and prompt you through the download and installation of .NET prior to installing the VitalSource eBook. Downloading and installing .NET may take 10-40 minutes depending on your computer’s configuration and your internet connection speed. Learn more about VitalSource technical support. If you prefer not to download Microsoft’s .NET framework, you can still access the CFA curriculum using the online version of the eBook. (While the downloadable version can be accessed anytime, the online version is only accessible when you have an active internet connection.) For immediate answers to common technical support issues, our eBook vendor, VitalSource, has a searchable online support website. Candidates may also contact CFA Institute for technical assistance and customer service support. Accessing the eBook After Your Exam Your eBook purchase provides digital access to the current year curriculum for the June or December exams. For example, if you select the Level I eBook for the June 2011 exam and you do not pass the June exam, you can continue using the Level I eBook for the December 2011 exam. Candidates should always use the most recent version of the curriculum when studying for an exam, but we understand that candidates may also wish to retain access to their eBooks for reference as they progress through the CFA Program. Thus the eBook will remain accessible for five years after it is made available. For example, the 2011 curriculum will be available in eBook format when registration opens in mid- to late-July 2010 and will remain available until December 2015.
