They ask to calculate kurtosis, skewness index and those things that doesn’t are in any LOS. What is the relevance of those questions?
Another thing that bothers me is the length of some calc required in EOCs of Reading 7: If those questions are similar in lenght with the real exam, then, I am lost! I average much longer than 90 seconds
I can’t speak to the LOS, as I have not seen an L1 curriculum in quite a while.
As far as the lenght of calculations - get to know the formulas VERY well, because some of the samy styles of questions will be on the exam. With that said, CFAI’s curriculum does go a little more in-depth in calculations in order for you to understand how to move through the formulas and the calculations. They focus on repitition for the Candidate’s benefit.
You will notice that there are some topics that require more calculation, while some you will answer in just a few seconds. Along the entire exam the average needs to be about 90 seconds. That average does not exist, though, and you will see questions that take a little longer or a little shorter. Just make sure you continue to practice the problems and put a LOT of time into knowing the formulas. They need to be recalled the instant you see the question.
Good luck!
i don’t think you will be tested on lengthy calculations, that being said we will be tested most likely on cencept. exaple, which portfolio you would choose based on kurtoisis .
The real exam questions are fair, they are to excesive long or hard. About 10% of the exam questions are challenging just to prevent the 100 score you know. Practice and all will be ok.
