equations containing exchange rate

I always forgot the symbol of the equations is direct quote or indirect quote, seems all equations like those

interest rate parity, uncovered, international fisher equation all use direct quote in the equation and the one calculate the FCRP is indirect quote inside. Anyone can advise?

Direct is FC:DC and IRP is F=S(1+r(FC)) / (1+r(DC)).

BUT, the CFAI material is TERRIBLE, they mix FC:DC and DC:FC in their samples when trying to explain IRP, which is confusing enough as it i I’m going to write them a letter about it after the exam.
