eReaders for CFA PDFs?

Do any of you who received Elan’s pdf format of textbooks use a digital eReader when studying? I am looking for the best large display eReader for this material and am looking at the Kindle and the Sony 900, but wanted to see who’s on this method.

No f*cking way, unless you want to take the exams in braille.

I have a standard size kindle, and I’ve gotta say the support for PDFs is incredibly disappointing. I’ve tried to read a 10-K on there and the journey from PDF to kindle-readable PDF was pretty disappointing. Perhaps someone else can weigh in who has a Kindle DX, the larger-screened one. Anyhow, based on this, I don’t think that taking the CFAI eBooks and trying to get them to a kindle would be a great idea. Aren’t they in some weird proprietary format to begin with?

Will check out the Kindle and the Sony 900. To me it makes sense. All my books/tests/materials etc in one place. What to eReaders have to do with Braile? Do you know what an eReader is swan?

There are bigger ereaders, size A4. iPad is the best, it has kindle, PDF, other formats, soon even CFAI curriculum format, much bigger screen than kindle or Sony reader. And it’s not just black & white

a netbook is the best for pdf files, in my opinion. I have used one during train rides and they work perfectly for under $300. The screen size on a 10" netbook is plenty large, the battery life is 10 hours and it is lightweight.

I was trying to make the point that staring at a screen for that long cannot be good for your eyes.

Haha. Looking at the quad monitor for 12 hours daily, I’m sure I wouldn’t notice a few more. I thought of the iPad, but being that eReaders are digital ink, I think it would be fine to use. I use a netbook now, could embrace the idea of a tablet but still think an eReader for the price is worth it. Been checking this discussion on engadget: A lot of people for the Kindle http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/09/hdr-video-accomplished-using-dual-5d-mark-iis-is-exactly-what-i/ Black Swan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > jay335 Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Will check out the Kindle and the Sony 900. I think that the Kindle is much nicer to read on than the iPad because the iPad has a constant back lit screen that tires my eyes after a while.

I’ve tried all the devices above and have settled on the 9.7" Amazon DX. It blows everything out of the water for long reading sessions. If you must scroll through a lot of PDFs in a hurry (ie. 10-K reports or Matlab programming guides), then a Netbook or iPad would be a better choice. Do not get the standard 6" Kindle for PDF, it doesn’t work. If small form factor is a must, get the new Sony reader since it can reflow PDFs on the fly to fit the small displays. Do not get the current generation Sony (PSR-300/600/900), their displays stink. I’d attach a picture showing the differences between the different devices, but I can’t find an attach image function on this forum.

Ha there is no attach image function on this forum! Much for an IT specialist owner lol rofl lmao or whatever else
