i know we hear a lot about the merits between which provider is better - one thing that I haven’t seen a lot of is essay question prep. i’ve got a friend who was 3 for 3 on Schweser and did the live class prep for 3 - (NYSSA) and told me that the class focuses significantly on writing for the essay questions. i’ve been 2 for 2 on stalla - and quite honestly don’t want to change the recipe, since it works for me. but i also want to be prepared for the essay questions, because of all the people i’ve spoken to about L3 in 2008, knowing the answer was only half the battle. (the other half being the ability to get the answer down in the time allotted) In short, those of you taking Stalla - how do you (or did you) feel about essay prep? did you take live class or online (cds)?
Stella~~Much better. I did the practice exam, and I felt they taught me all I need to know about short answer for L3.
I have not used Stalla, but can speak to Schweser. Their essay questions were very difficult, borderline overkill (ridiculously long and hard to read questions, difficult return calculations, etc). Questionable benefit. I learned the most by practicing the essay questions on the old CFAI exams that are available on line, this is an absolute must.
Did anyone take stalla online/live prep classes?
thanks - i’ve decided that i’d rather stick with what has worked for me for the last 2 exams - keeping with the same prep provider… (derswap… i’ve taken the stalla online class for level 1, 2 - i like them because they keep you on track through the months of studying)
