I was doing fine on ethics on my practice test for a while…usually getting 4/6 which I was comfortable with considering the ridiculous nature of some of the questions. Spent two days of concentrated study on ethics, and now i’m getting blown out by them 2/6. What is going on? Anybody else having the same issues? Maybe the Schweser practice tests in Vol 2 are just getting way too hard…
Maybe just overthinking it? Im very torn on ethics. Part of me wants to really study it hard, but there so much risk involved. Even if i know every standard in and out, i could easily still get 3/6. Without reviewing it now, i cuold get 3/6 but could also get 5/6. I dont know if its worth the time at this point. I guess ill find out in a week.
I would say it’s not worth it…it’s so hit or miss. Usually going with the first answer you think of is a good strategy. Overthinking kills me…
I went 40/40 on the first Ethics EOC questions. Those were pretty easy, but I struggle to do better than 4/6 on the mocks. I always find a way to screw up soft dollars or I’ll be reading through a vignette and I’ll see what I think is a clear VIOLATION only to answer the question incorrectly because, of course, there was no violation. If I go 5/6 in an Ethics vignette I get pretty jazzed by it. I feel like I have seen every Ethics question under the sun yet I still find stupid ways to miss points. I guess I am just an unethical person. I can live with that.
If you’ve spent two good days, I think you’ve done what you can, given remaining days. Do a brief review of major topics here and there, but I’m not sure more time is good added value. I haven’t done a sample exam yet and am a bit worried. I’d like to make sure I can get all the low-hanging fruit on every section. I think that accounts for half the test. After that point, I’ll get solid on my strengths and manage my weaknesses. For example, I hope to get >83% on ethics, quantitative, economics, equity and portfolio Mgt; and I should be able to get that. The other sections, well, I’ll get my 50% correct and hope to guess like a pro!
I guess were all unethical then haha. Speaking of, an article on the CFAI Website had like 2-3 violations of standrd 7- use of the designation. Several times it stated: “the work required to become a CFA…” or stuff like that (using CFA as a noun). I thought it was funny. I wrote CFAI an email. They said thanks and will look into it. Maybe ill get extra credit. Or maybe theyll mark me down and fail me haha.
Chuckrox what are you hoping to do? Ace every single question ever created…? chill out
This is actually the one section that I consistently do good on. I normally go with my gut instinct on the trickier ones but other otherwise its not too bad To me its just always disclose everything BEFORE signing new clients or undertaking extra work; clients before employer before me, never imply that being a CFA charterholder makes you better than anyone else, and… I could go on but basically always err on the side of caution.

You should be hearing the whirling blades of three blackhawks right about now…Good luck sir.
I would have thought it would higher with respect to people o this forum- basic premise being people on this forum seem a lot more prepared - something i had captured in the earlier post http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?12,1260559
I find I often read the questions wrong. While I go back through afterward I realize they were asking something completely different. I know the concepts cold, I wish they could just ask me them in what I consider to be a fair manner.
thought i just heard em coming. False alarm.

Ace every > single question ever created…? chill out It wouldn’t hurt…I scored <50 in Ethics last year on L2. This score implies pure awesomeness on my part and scores of 2/6 and 3/6 (not giving myself the benefit of the 6/12) unless I totally goose egged one of the vignettes.
Can you score <50 on Ethics and still pass the exam?
I consistently do well on Schweser Ethics… and poorly on CFAI… Same for Level 1

westibbs Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can you score <50 on Ethics and still pass the > exam? Though if you’re borderline there’s the “ethics adjustment” if you do well in ethics, so try and score some good points here…it might just help.
