Ethics -- IIIe is tricky

Careful with this Standard: Standard IIIe says go with applicable law, even if the confidential information is about something ILLEGAL. So if you have a client and the client did something ILLEGAL, and applicable law says you have to keep it confidential, you cannot report the client to the authorities, etc

hmmm… thanks man ! Can you post any example/question ?

upholding LAW is above all ethics. if that was the case, then how would any bad law get overturned?

APPLICABLE LAW prevails, although counter- intutive to most people.

Daj, here we love questions… put some more questions on…and we will try to cook them

> you cannot report the client to the authorities, etc But you have to report it to your employer/compliance officer, no?

Correct, the standards do not require that you report the client to the autorities, unless the authorities come to you and ask for illegal activity regarding your client.
