" the CFA charter is the highest credential in the global investment management" " I passed all three CFA exam on the first try, which places me in an elite category of exceptional charter holders"
I think Both are violations
the second one is obviously a violation the word. For CFA charter, it sounds like just a fact, unless there are other higher credentails beyond CFA .
Each statement is both an ethics violation and at grammatical one.
First is allowed. Second is not allowed.
Surely the first one claims the superiority of the CFA charter?
The first is allowed. This question is in the sample questions that CFAI posts on their website. It factually is the highest credential, and it doesn’t imply that the holders can generate superior returns. The second is only a violation because of what’s after the comma. You can state that you passed all three on the first try if you don’t imply anything.
I also missed that question because of the first statement. Sounds like subjective marketing bs to me.
unfortunately, both are NOT violation!! It sounds like violation to me too (sigh) and i got them wrong, is there any good explaination of this? U can find these questions on mock exam 2009

U r correct on the first one but the second is also not a violation as i explain to myself, one pass all 3 levels at first attempt consider elite among others CFA ( who may failed few times) , but not elite to other investment professionals (as we can’t say because they didnt seat for CFA exam) Doesnt seems right to me too but i guess it’s the logic thing behind

Calling yourself an exceptional charterholder is a violation imho. Charterholder is a charterholder is a charterholder. CFA does not distiguish among charterholders. There is no elite or non-elite charterholder. If CFA institute decided to further fine tune their charters by awarding gold, silver, platinum, brozne etc, then maybe at that time you can say, I am a platinum Charterholder, etc. But for now, all you can do is merely state the facts (You passed in 1st attempt) and say you are a charterholder, if both the facts are true. Exceptional, elite, etc are all violations.

The first one is no violation. It is what it is. You misread the question and answer options for this question. The CFAI of course tricked you. He least likely violated “I passed all three CFA exam on the first try” but violated “which places me in an elite category of exceptional charter holders”. The CFAI split up the sentences and treated them as separate statements and not one. Read through the answer options carefully and you’ll see.
If I buy an issue for my self first, then for clients, but ended up paying a higher price for myself, should I reverse the trade??

I guess nobody knows!
both sound like violations. Point one is debatable because a good Master of Finance (MFin) designation is pretty valuable too, and you could argue which is better (it’s not cut and dry). as for the second one, you can say you passed all levels in consecutive attempts, but you can’t call yourself a more elite charterholder because of that. seems clear to me but, that’s how they get you
Do you reverse the trade?!?
I have seen that Mock Exam…both are not violations…crazy, but true
" I passed all three CFA exam on the first try, which places me in an elite category of exceptional charter holders" Def not aloud
What’s with all the broken English in this topic. I didn’t really expect to see this on Analystforums.
