I am running out of time… what should I use for ethics??? schweser or CFAI
Read the Standards of Practice Handbook. It is only 170 pages or so and you need to know this material. Don’t forget to read the CFAI material for GIPS. If you need helping finding the handbook let me know.
Unfortunatelly… CFAI. It’s longer but its 15% of the exam, so you should really read the text. Ethics is super important for the CFAI. Then you can just do questions on the Q-bank to practice.
Isn’t the handbook in the CFAI book??? or is it something separate???
Brian: Where is the handbook from CFAI? I was wondering about ethics, because in Schweser it’s only about 80 pages long (including GIPS). Thanks
I readh Schweser Ethics 3-4 times and got >70 on it. The GIPS is super easy, you just have to read it a few times. Read it ethics and gips twice the day before the exam and you will be money!
It’s in the first book. But, you can also download it from the CFA website.
Thanks for the advice Houston! I was just wondering since that section is not that long.
In addition to reading it a bunch I did every question in qbank and thought that was super helpful. Rumor has it if you are on the edge of pass/fail they look at your ethics score. I was definitely on the edge and passed because of ethics!
Hey!!! I can’t seem to find the Standards of Practice Handbook… does someone have a PDF COPY…??? if you do, could you forward it to me : perea.cesar@ G M A I L DOT COM Thank youuuu
CFA_2010… thanks… it mirrows the book … I didn’t want to read this aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Look at some practice questions first. A lot of it’s intuitive. I’m not endorsing not doing the reading, but this is an easy section to score points in. FSA is killing me though
From what I remember from the level 1 exam I was surprised on how many GIPS questions there were, so know your GIPS. Level 2 you don’t have to worry but they rear their ugly head again in L3. My advice for ethics is to practice as many questions as you can (Q-bank, Schweser and CFAI). Just when you have spare time (if any) go through ethics questions while you are watching TV, or have a break at work. Doesn’t have to be intensive study but the more questions you try (and get wrong) the better off you will be in the exam. And don’t panic in the exam, you will always get some ethics questions you don’t know, at every level. In that case just don’t waste time, go with your gut feeling and if you have time come back at the end and give it more thought.
Every night, at the end of my study, just before I lay my sleepy head on my pillow, I like to do 60 Ethics Qbank questions. It’s wonderful
good toilet reading.
Thanks, guys!!! I started to read the handbook last night… hopefully I can have it read by the end of the weekend (including GIPS).
Shouldn’t be a problem to finish it this weekend. The bulk of the book is made up of practice questions.
I’ll read both CFA snd Schweser Thurs night and friday afternoon before exam. I finished both on a Saturday back in August and could use the review. Pretty easy read and taking a bunch of ethics questions right before the exam should be a confidence booster…I need more confidence.
100% CFAI schweser secondary. use the CFAI mocks to prepare yourself for how the exam questions will be. the june 2008 cfai mock ethics questions and real test ethics questison were same format
