Ethics - Volunteers/Interns (unpaid)

i’ve seen this come up in a few ethics questions that talk about breaches of the codes by unpaid volunteers / interns. What’s the CFAI position on this? Do the codes apply to unpaid employees? Ethics clearly isn’t my strong point i know.

if the unpaid intern is using company premises and other infrastructure like computer, net facilities and company-subscribed reports to prepare his independent research report, the he is obligated to the firm as if that firm employed him. his research must be solely available for the employer firm … he cant take it with him (or sell it to some other entity) without employer company’s permission.

so an unpaid student has now obligations other than this?

unpaid is treated just like an employee, cfa mentions “unpaid interns receive compension in the form of work experience”

Which standard does it say that? thanks

its mentioned in one of the cases / examples in CFA cirriculum.
