Today, as usual, I unpack the CFA curriculum lv2 for the first time…the books are so beautiful…but I wont read them…never ever…So for newcomers to this forum, I just tell you something which may be useful 1. I don’t use CFACurri…just schweser…and still be able to pass with all over 70 except ethic in 50-70…others do different ways…So I believe there many ways to learn…choose by yourself…stop concerning about what is better…only you know it…do what you did with lev1 and increase study time to 1.5x 2. For those who study schweser, never underestimate Q’bank…it not good for exam simulation, but good for concept review & application check…Level 2 ques is not much about complicated calculation…just application…and very straightforward in my opinion 3. What ever methods you use, the last two weeks before the exam is most important…so concentration makes different 4. Careful next year as lev2 is not easy as you passed lev1 this year (unbelievable high pass rate)…lev2 requires more…and also you will compete with very smart guys (I knew)in this forum who just failed as a bad luck…they wont give you chance to get over them easily next year… 5. Last thing to share…read the exam carefully…I practice this technique many time and by using it, I improved my result by 20% (estimated) from easy quest to guessing quest so far…the answer is in the quest as always… For those you just passed lev2…any other ideas or words before leaving?
Thanks for the tips CFAbeninner01. I passed level 1 in 2009 quite comfortably. I did not read CFAI text except for ethics. I did all CFAI EOC MC questions though. One strategy that I used for level 1 is to ignore complicated formulas as I heard CFAI is not known to test candidates on plug and chuck types of questions. This is a safe bet for level 1 in my opinion because I can miss 72 questions and still pass the exam. I am just starting my level 2 preparation and some of the equations in the Quant section are not easy for me to remember. Sf and Adjusted R2 for examples. My question to you is this, if I master the core concepts really well, but I ignore most of the more trivia stuff, do you think I have a good shot at passing the exam? In an ideal world, I would focus on everything, but time and my brain space are constraints that I have to live with. In other words, I would like to know roughly how many percent of the level 2 exam is based on trivia stuff (I know for a fact that it is < 10% for level 1) ? Thanks a bunch!
