Suddenly my hopes for an early tell increased… This is some interesting ad-hoc governance. Proposal: Let the L1 retakers sweat it out in October and move all exams to the end of the winter. First Tuesday of March?
I’m a Muslim and I sat for Level II June 2017 ( I think it was 9th of Ramadan ) while I was Fasting, and I Passed. I TOTALLY agree with your points above it will be harder next year for the reasons you had mentioned. If CFAI ask me I will say even let it tobe sooner ( before Ramadan) or keep it as it is in the mid of the month, it will be better than studying for all the month while fasting and spend the Eid holiday ( about one week before exam day) reviewing formulas, Mocks and secret sauce.
folks we all can sit here and debate, at least let the steam out…but that will barely have a chance to be amended…
play your hand with the cards you are dealt and get on board !
my theory is that some Muslims not all, with all due respect, complained about the difficulty just to probably get extra edge… and if that happens than I completely agree CFAI sucks big time…as i say, i personally saw plenty muslims eating and drinking during the exam day, guess this is what the exception during fasting period is for…although there were some who were not eating or drinking…and i bet those are not the ones who complained as they took it as is…
bottom line… whatever the CFAI is throwing, just make sure you catch it ! otherwise the freaking frustration is just gonna hurt your performance…
If anything, I would have preferred the exam to take place at the end of May as well. But it is what it is. I think Muslims should complain about the new date and explain that it does not really help them. The CFA board might then revisit this topic and opt for end of May (which would be ideal for most candidates).
Should the exam take place on 23/06 I will have to disconnect my TV for a few weeks in June in order to not get distracted by the World Cup and the NHL Stanley Cup final.
What about people who made major plans with the assumption of the exam being first week of June. There are people who spent a lot of money to go to the World Cup, even a few getting married around that time. They now have to push their education back an entire year or abandon their plans and take a solid hit financially. I’ll change my schedule accordingly but some people will face difficult circumstances…
Actually a good point. I’d feel bad about the wedding point. In the end, you should wait until the date is announced, however, I can understand how you assume it’s 1st saturday in June as it always is.
It’s all about your personal interest. People all hope the exam is given every month in a year before they pass L3 and hope it’s only offered once every 4 years like the World Cup after they become charterholders.
Can’t do it at the end of May, as some people sitting for Level I might still be wrapping up college finals. CFAI should’ve fully thought out their decision to accommodate some based on a religious belief.
What a bummer For those of us with school going kids, this will eat into 2+ weeks of summer vacation - thats time that you can spend with the kids, travel etc.
Does anyone know if this change is permanent or will it go back to 1st Saturday of June in 2019? If it is permanent we should all contact CFAI and complain about the change!
