Here’s the response I got when asking when they’ll be sent: “Thank you for contacting us. We do not have a specific time as to when the exam results will begin to be sent to Level I and Level II candidates on 26 July 2010. Please contact us again with any other questions you may have. Regards,”
I can see the threads now. “I have not received an email and it is 9:05am, does this mean I failed?” “I received mine at 9:37am and passed” “I have not received an email as yet and it is 11am, does this mean I failed”. This should be fun next Monday.
I can imagine the feeling in my gut when emails pop up.
I think CFAI is going to regret changing to this method of notification unless all results get blasted out in a very short timeframe. At least with the old method, despite the stresses on their system, the results were available by a very specific time.

Does its violate any ethical standards lol ?
We should be able to look at the website and see what level it allows us to register for. I would imagine that would be updated all at once, maybe at the same time the first batch of emails are sent out. But I guess if we all do this the website will crash anyway.

Well, they were available at a certain time but seeing as how I couldn’t get on to the system for around 2.5t hours for level 1 I can’t see this system being any worse. Besides, this is how most professional bodies, for example CIMA/ACCA do it so I don’t see why the CFA institute shouldn’t adopt the same approach.
Do we think the actual results will be contained in the e-mail? Or will the e-mail contain a link that brings you to the CFAI site (which may crash as a result)?
^The reason CFAI decided to e-mail the results is probably that they want to avoid a server crash again, so I think the results will be in the e-mail itself.

rolling basis because there’s just no way to avoid this. they have to batch the outgoing emails, and the only way to do it is to put the email addresses on some sort of assembly line

Its still hard to believe that CFA have such tehnical difficulties in sending the results…they need some smart IT folks and increase their IT budget.
The CFAI website says registration will be closed from the 23rd to the 27th… so the method I proposed earlier apparently won’t work. Crappy.
well, for what it’s worth, the two emails that the Institute sent me in order to confirm they had my correct email address came: 7/21 @ 11:08am 7/1 @ 11:10am Not sayin that’s when I’ll get my results on Monday… just sayin’.
Maybe the rolling basis is according to time zones? Would make some sense …
