Finance books

Hey guys! Can anyone recommend any good finance oriented books that’s good for everyday reading? preferrably not textbooks…more of informative finance books that i can learn from it as well… i’m interested in mergers and acquisitions, funds management, stock market, etc… thanks in advance!!

The classic M&A book is Barbarians at the Gates…

random walk down wall street beyond greed and fear

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator

My lecturer recommended the “random walk down wall street” book…is it constantly updated? Any more recommendations will be great! Thanks!

Monkey Business Age of Turbulence Stephen Frey novels

“Reminiscences of a Stock Operator”. Here, here. Willy

For stocks, don’t forget “The Intelligent Investir” by Ben Graham (sp?).

“Liars Poker” Michael Lewis … Great story about Solomon brothers bond trading in the 80’s “Empire of debt” and “Financial Reckoning Day” - Bonner and Wiggin Some would say these guys are a little out there, very libertarian, very intelligent (IMO). In Financial Reckoning day they predict the internet bubble burst, in Empire of Debt they predict the housing/mortgauge/credit crisis. The are VERY good and entertaining writers, also Empire of Debt is very informative if your want to learn more about why the credit crisis is going on and what it might mean for the future. Also if you are a economic history buff, you will LOVE this. GenY

Essays of Warren Buffett Winner takes all : Steve Wynn, Kirk Kerkorian… (New Book) Barbarians at the Gate (This is the best) When Genius Failed (Not about M&A but it is a classic; LTCM)

Oh god here we go again. Use the search function, there are some good recommended reading lists on here if you look. I have a couple posts saved to favorites that I found after doing a quick search.

thanks mikebc1! i didn’t thought of searching past threads!

Got on my other computer, and looked up the best thread I have saved (in my opinion of course)… http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?1,661155 Also, recommended reading lists on Amazon are not bad to have a look at. Good luck, and don’t let this stuff distract you from CFA studying.

thanks mike! i just needed some books that i can occupy myself with at work coz i can’t concentrate on studying for the CFA at work even when i have the time to!

Reading books at work eh? … any openings where you are? and what’s the salary like? just kidding, and if you find some good books not listed put em up here.
