Can you recommend any book for Financial modeling with Excel / VBA? Appreciate if you could let me know the source as well e.g. website of the publisher.
Simon Benninga… Explains a lot of different modeling in detail. The book also come with a CD which has examples and demo models on it. Highly recommended.
You can look at this tutorial on this website. The dude is an Excel MVP and he writes really well. THis is part 1/6. http://chandoo.org/wp/2010/07/21/financial-modeling-introduction/

I used the BIWS (Breaking Into Wall Street) financial modeling course. The CFA teaches us all this theory but I’ve never got to apply any of it until I started this self-paced course. It’s around 3 hundo-ish, but I think it’s well worth it. You can download all the “mp4” files to your iphone/ipod touch and take it wherever you go. There bonus for the BIWS course is when they actually do a “what-if” M&A analysis with Yahoo and Microsoft. I learned a lot with this course and I think it’ll definitely be a resume booster…at least for me since I’m an engineer by day and have 0 experience in the field =P Hope that helps. VBA is a joke, use C++ or C#, maybe Python. tasks that take hours to compute in VBA take minutes in these lagunages
