Financial software developer to ER-Quant

Good Morning .I have worked 5 years in a financial firm specializing in producing various software to be sold for stress testing and volatility ,many of this software have ended in U.S .I am tired of programming life because of the long hours and the environmental simular to a sweat shop in pakistan making footballs lol. I have(am a student) in statisical analyisi for my PhD. The FRM is aimed at risk and I don’t like rism,I mainly like quant portfolio management so this is why i choose cfa .Please help.I Checked the CQF which was tooooo expensinve ,what path can lead me to quant portfolio management and distruptive investments ?

I dont mind canada or US .

feel free to PM ME.

Sorry for bad grammar and punctuality I am on my phone.

Are you from Indian or Pakistan?

You are late in this career…a lot…

Try if you can to get into grad programs and spend ($50K+).

Please move this to career section before Afers attack on him…poor guy…

I am Indian.

Why am I late ?If i get into grad programs is that ok ? thank u atush ,r u also indian ?Who is going to attack me ?

From what I have understood so far the people on AF, prefer if you keep posting your message a few times daily. You see they all want to help but due to the busy lifestyle this is a requirement, it’s 2220 hours here , I suggest you post a thread every hour asking the same question until abou 9-10 in the morning, after that stop for about 4 hours, repeat daily until you get a satisfactory Answer. This is one of the side effects of financial sector jobs , you get too bust to answer simple and honest people.

lol samcrybaby well played. Honestly OP dont waste your time with a CFA. Not needed for people looking for quant roles. However I have heard lately that there are more quants than quant roles now, however I also could be very wrong

^ I am just trying to give the poor guy insight , remember OP only the unconventional win. Was steve Jobs conventional? Was Bill Gates Normal ? Just do what you have to do, keep posting until you get a decent Answer to your question, I wish I was knowledgeable enough to help you buddy. Keep posting.

stop being a prick SCB

Do not follow SamCryBaby’s advice here.

Hello, any updates on my situation ? My massage box is still empty.

massage box is now my new favorite saying…thank you.

Sadegh, if you don’t like long programmnig hours why do you want to become a quant? I imagine the hours are similar and you are constantly tweaking an algorithm to produce results…I don’t see much of a difference there aside from pay & blood pressure

I don’t think becoming a quant is very easy but knowing programming is huge - perhaps skip all the cfa / studing / etc. and try to get into a hedge fund on the IT side first
