financing graduate school

With the high cost of the MBA program, how did those who are in the program or done it, are/were able to finance it. I understand private loans from banks is a terrible idea, so that is out…and the federal loans are so minimum…so how r u guys making it happen?

6% private loans and 96 Federal

Those board meetings would be off the chain.

Pls don’t hijack my thread…I do need some constructive input. I would like to know how those who have attended/or thinking of attending graduate school have be able to finance it.

SLABS, or student loan asset backed securities are made by lending institutions under the US Government’s Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). The US Government guarantees loans up to 98% of the loan principal and accrued interest made by private lenders to students. Cash flows associated with SLABS occur during 3 periods: 1. Deferment - no interest or payment of principal during study period 2. Grace - after graduation but before actual employment with no interest or payment of principal 3. Repayment - employed and paying both interest and principal amortization Prepayments may occur because of defaults or loan consolidation.

23adam. FFELP is a good option i think. Many B-schools (US) will be able to assist you in getting these loans once you are admitted. The loan rates are pretty decent (based on LIBOR). Most of the ppl who go to B-schools take a loan of some sort and go study. Another option would be to compromise on the school quality/location and get a higher scholarship. Also schools in NY are costlier than those in other cities. So location is also a factor. I guess if you are really keen on getting into B-school then you should not let ‘taking a loan’ stop you. Loan is inevitable in most of the cases. Cheers.
