Hi there,
Is anyone using or has used Finquiz for Level III? I have used the essay-type questions so far, and they did not seem too difficult.
I wonder how this is compared with the actual CFAI exam.
Cheers

I’m using Finquiz. I definitley would recommend it along with videos from another prep provider (I am lazy and like it when someone explains the concepts to me).
When it comes to reviewing the material while going through questions, their notes are MUCH more user friendly than Schweser guides or the CFA curriculum. Go to their website and look and the examples. It gives you worked examples where it’s needed and just the equations where it’s obvious what you need to do with them.
Thanks for your response.
Actually I have the full package. What I was asking is whether someone that already wrote the exam and used Finquiz could tell me if the level of difficulty is similar…
I’m doing the essay-type questions (full curriculum) and I’m scoring about 50% (being conservative on the grading)…
I would like to know if the reason is that I’m on track or that the questions are too easy.
Cheers!
if with conservative grading done by yourself - you are giving yourself a 50% - what is your level of confidence?
Do not get me wrong. If you were scoring a 100% and then asking if the questions were easy - I would understand. The Level III curriculum is vast, there are a lot of ways questions can be asked, and there is the subjective element attached to the grading itself. So take whatever question you get, understand the process. However - do more of a detailed run with actual CFAI questions from the AM sessions of the past few years … and refine your answers based on the guidelines provided.
I did not mean I am confident, and by being conservative I meant that I tend to underscore my answers, so 50% could have been 60%.
Given that:
We’re in early March
I haven’t started intense review,
Target score for the AM session seems to be around 50%
I want to know if either I’m progressing well and I have enough time to fill the gaps, or I should accelerate because Finquiz is not a good benchmark.
That’s it, apologies if I did not appropriately express my concern.
they have questions in Finquiz that test extreme portions of the curriculum. their questions are good.
however for a right level of preparedness - look at the CFAI questions, language, etc. etc. that is all I meant.
I just finished my 4th full FinQuiz mock. Take it for what it is worth, but I feel that their exams are much more difficult than the actual material. Also, their approach to asking questions in the AM is no where near as direct as the official exams. Their IPS calculations are bull**** as well, IMO. I feel that they are useful, but I am going to switch to actual past exams here in the near future.
FinQuiz is all about the Smart Summaries.
