First service certificate

Bit of whiny thread.

OK, so I was laid off from work recently after five years of experience in Transaction Advisory. This was my first full time job. It was somehow very depressing to see the final service certificate. Corporate title is ‘financial analyst’ and salary scale was very low at our firm anyways. It all looked too much of an underachievement for 5-yrs time frame if I look at it from career perspective. If I look at bigger picture, having passed CFA L1 and L2 during those 5-yrs adds more weight. But seriously an analyst for five years at about quarter of the market value salary rate! What I was thinking all that time! I was planning to leave after CFA L3 in any case but could have made a move after L2! What a waste!

Anyone felt the same at some point at their career?

It must really suck to have five years of steady employment at as a Financial Analyst in a Transaction Advisory role. I’m sure that your experience was totally worthless and that you’ll never get a better job because you learned so much in those five years.

Perk up. I know that it sucks losing a job, but at least you got good experience and a whole lot to build on. That’s better than most of us, myself included. I’d give my left nut to be in your shoes.

Sorry to hear that sumz but do know that 5 years of analyst job is far from an underachievement as far as i am concerned…i would rather be in that position than mine of long term unemployment.U r probably in a good position to get another job…all the best mate

Greenie, I have faith in you man, keep your head up and network hard. It will work out.

Same for you Sumz.
