Fixed Income Analyst Skill Set

Anyone work in fixed income? I was wondering the quant skills required to get into and be successful in this market. I am a L3 candidate and always do good on the fixed income stuff in the CFA material. Got the CPA and some professional experience (not in fixed income). However, I am not a quant type or a computer programmer. Is their room for guys like me in fixed income? I figure fundamental research on credit quality, sector allocation, etc… What about the ABS, MBS market. Is it math guys only?

Yup - you’ve got a great pedigree (hopefully CFA soon / CPA) for fundamental research. Insurers do a lot of this, so might start there. Depending on your professional experience will dictate if you make 60 when you start or 80+.
