found ethics violation on Linked In

Weird, but i randomly was on Linked In and came across someone’s profile. http://www.linkedin.com/in/jansramek THIS GUY WRITES THAT HE IS EXPECTING TO EARN THE CFA IN 2010. Unless, i am wrong, that is a ETHICAL BREACH, right!!! how can someone write that – if he did it on linked in, it is probably on his resume. how arrogant, to assume he will pass all 3 levels in a row!! (and i know i am being hypocritical b/c i amlways blabbing my mouth saying i will crush this and that, but you know i am a big joker to begin with and I would never put this sort of crap on my resume – if he gets interviewed by a charterholder, they will laugh him out of the office) he takes it in december 2008, so maybe he is out there on these forums

FROM THE SITE ------------------------------------- Jan Sramek’s Education CFA Institute CFA, 2008 — 2010 (expected) Taking CFA Level 1 in December 2008 ------------------------------------

I saw similar description for another guy on Linked in. Seems they have not yet read ethics properly.

He is still not a candidate (unless he registered for Dec 2008 exam already). So he can say/do whatever he wants.

Was his name Asif Igeev Asheed?

lol

Its an ethical violation, it matters little that the its by a cfa candidate or not. part of the wider overaching responsibility of cfa candiadates and members is to eduacate the public and those people with we come into contact about the need to adhere to cfa code of ethics and avoid ethical lapses

A co-worker of mine whowas sitting for the LIII this past June (she passed after the fact), had CFA expected 2008. The girl is a complete dumb-@$$ in general so I am not suprised.

Some chillin needed…

The girl is a complete > dumb-@$$ in general so I am not suprised. I wonder how people like her even passed L1/L2…the CFAI curriculum couldn’t be anymore clear about this. Proper usage of the CFA designation and how to cite it on a card/resume is the first damn thing they teach you in Ethics. I’m not the pedantic type who lives by the absolute letter of the law, but they test you on this stuff on every exam, and they reiterate themselves 1000 times. She might as well have called herself “a C.F.A. who’s designation guarantees superior intellect, ability, and results” posted it in huge, bold, funky font

C.F.A doesnt guarantee my superior intellelect, my MENSA membership does!

This thread caught my attention, and here is what my profile displays: CFA Institute CFA Level 2 Candidate, 2008 – 2010 (expected) Currently enrolled in the program and registered to take the Level 2 examination in June 2009. Now, the point is, that Linkedin shows *2008 – 2010 (expected)* by itself once we enter the years in the profile. I do not know how to NOT have it displayed like this and I have a strong feeling that all the details provided by me are in the spirit of ethics curriculum as I make it very clear that I am a L2 candidate. What do you guys think?

We are currently interviewing candidates for a tenure track finance faculty member at my school. While looking at the national organization’s resume bank, I came across someone who not only put an expected date of completion for CFA, but also for CPA. The first is a violation. The second may not be, but the accounting faculty at my school agree that at best, it;'s just plain stupid. What made it even funnier is that his “PhD” (also with an expected completion date) is from a degree mill (it gives academic credit for “life experience”). We’re obviously not going to interview him, but a part of me says we should just to see how bad the guy is. But that would be wrong… Funny, but wrong.

I think that signiing up for Linked-In if this is the situation is an ethical violation and you are off to Gitmo.

JDV… BE SERIOUS!!!

The guy is a wonder student http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/Ten-39A39-grades-for-Czech.1701656.jp A YORK-educated Czech student has secured 10 A grade A-levels and three distinctions in one of the most successful hauls of results ever recorded by a pupil in Britain. Jan Sramek, who arrived in England only two years ago to begin his studies at Bootham School, managed to get full marks in nearly half of all the papers he took.

Nobel Prize, 2020 (expected).
