Anybody taking the full FRM exam this november? Please leave a message if you want to hook up and share your thoughts

I cant believe noone is doing it from Hong Kong. :frowning: Maybe they just dont want to hook up

Well i am, what backgrounds are u guys from? I am currently enrolled a course at Kornerstone.

i have purchased the schweser notes and i would be going through that for the exam. My background includes a bachelor maths degree and master business degree from the UK. CFA lvl one (passed dec 08), CAIA lvl 1 (passed march 09). Worked for just under 3 years as an Analyst in a Hedge Fund and Private Equity advisory firm. If problems arises during the study of the FRM; maybe we can meet up and share our thoughts.

Seems like u wanna get every bits of the action, tfyim

Hey guys, How’s your revisions lately? I am still struggling to fully comprehend QA till now. The rest seems easier to digest

I have been going through the schweser materials (book 1 -5) I have read book 1 and 5 which i find rather easy. I am resting for 2 days and will start book 2 on wednesday. Thus far, i have not encountered any problems in terms of the difficulties of the context, but remembering the volume of information may be more challenging.

tfyim how’s the scheweser books coming along? Been goign thru the Jorin core reading and i find the content very vague and hard to grasp and when i went thru the core readings, for those that finds QA quite dry (such as I), i do realised that the core readings do come in handy. As for the intro of bonds, there are a couple of chapters i feel can be omitted in the core readings.

The schweser books are ok. The depth of some topics can, in my opinion, be more in depth. The problems with the schweser books are that they expect/assume you know alot of the basics already and some of the content can seem quite vague. Especially the quants. My friend, who passed last year, advise me to skip Jorin because he said it can put you to sleep and de-motivate you.

Hi tfyim, Skipped Jorion huh? Well i think the core readings will help on the QA part.

yes, i am skipping jorion and my friend has given me many of the required core readings. I will refer to the core reading in areas where schweser fail to address properly.

cool best of luck. lots to reading to catch up on

hi all. i’m okey. i live in lagos but visit hong kong 3 - 4 times a year. passed level 2 cfa exams june 09 (wrote in hong kong). will be writing frm (full) in november. been a bit slow in taking off with preparations for the november frm. i think there won’t be time to read the core reading and jorion. do you think the schweser material (with reference to jorion in certain topics) is enough?

Hi, I am using schweser and have only been refering back to some of the core readings when the schweser books fail to explain sufficiently. I have no time to read all the core readings either, so lets hope the schweser books can work wonders for both you and I. Good Luck
