FRM Part 1 in Nov and CFA Level I in Dec

Dear all,

Thanks for accepting my membership in this wonderful forum. Your site is really cool and helpful.

I need some advice about my plan to conquer CFA and FRM and I hope all you guys will reply to me.

I graduated in Dec with a major in banking and finance, had 3 months intern at a Big4 Audit firm and 3 months as a financial analyst at a big commercial bank. I plan to sit for FRM Part 1 in Nov and CFA level 1 in Dec. I just want to know, is this possible ? And how to conquer them ? I am going to finish my job and going to U.S to study Master in Banking and Finance this Aug. So, will this make too much pressure ?

Thank you very much for reading my post.

Sincerely,

Personally, I would’ve thought the CFA L1 would be a good prep for FRM L1 as the FRM assumes you have knowledge.

But you obviously have a strong background in any case.

All things are possible.

Good luck.

I dicided to make a try. Will not regret about this decision. Hope that the results will be fine.

I took CFA level 1 this past June, and have begun studying for FRM for this November… (taking a chance on having passed L1 so i dont have to resit and defer the FRM exam)… I feel pretty confident with studying for FRM having studied 600+ hours for CFA L1. However, if I didnt have any CFA study experience under my belt, FRM would be nearly impossible… the level of quantitative subject matter is mind blowing… very hard.

Quant is quite easy for me. Hence I hope that, I could beat both the exam if I have enough luck.

My strategy is as below, could you guys make any comment for me:

  • complete FRM core reading first (04 books, not too much work)

  • start to work with CFA after that and revise FRM by Kaplan notes

  • practise tests for both exam

Thanks.
