Read this How much time it takes to prepare for the FRM Exam: FRM is tougher than each level of International CFA, a reasonable estimate to prepare for the exam would be 300 hours, on http://pristinecareers.com/FAQ.htm Is it true that FRM is tougher than each level of CFA? how good of an idea it is to give FRM in Nov if you have done CFA L1 in June (and provided u pass )
If you don’t know any math it’s a lot tougher. If you know enough math, it’s about the same.
i am pretty strong at mathematics. but if FRM is tougher than each level of the CFA, then are the 4 months between June and Nov enough?
Yes. Get to it.
FRM exam is pretty hard but passing rate is really high, 4 months is more than enough.
thanks all.
There’s been some discussion regarding this on the General Forum in the past 2 weeks.
Hi Joey and all, I have no finance experience ( comp sci background ) and have take CFA level -1 last June…Some day in an year or two want to go and get a formal finance degree… and ultimately go to work at hedge funds… Do you advise me studying for FRM now (Nov)? Ofcourse, will only register if I pass level -1
How many years of compsci experience do you have? I would consider going back to school as a top priority in your case. If you want to go to grad school in a year (or next september) you should consider taking your GMAT and GRE very soon, Round 1 applications can start as early as October. Even if it’s 2 years, get your GMAT and/or GRE (depending on what degree you’re looking for) out of the way before pursuing any other designations.
6+ yrs comp sci. experience completed my masters in CS in 2001… am trying to target 2010 spring/summer/fall. Will need to take gmat…as my comp sci GRE expired some 5 years ago… Thanks grimer…
i completed by undergrad in 2004 in electronics. since then an IT professional. planning between GMAT and FRM. planning to get into one of the top tier B schools as a way to switch my career.
