Currently reading Long Lived Assets.FSA is taking too much time.its been over a month now.Should i finish SS9 and move to another topic or complete FSA? My method-Read Notes, solve Schweser EOC questions,Take LOS and Reading Quiz Read CFAI summary, Do CFAI EOC questions.trying to get the concepts as much as possible. it is taking too much time plus retention remains a problem. Revising Ethics off and on and doing quant twice a week.hoping to complete all topics once by Oct 15.
I get a feeling you do not have a background in accounting? Take your time. I think if it has been over a month then you should stay at it and complete it. But do not let it take more than a month again over completing FSA. Complete it as soon as you can so you can go on to other topics fast. Retention will always be a problem. Solution to being fast in prep: Read Notes, Solve Schweser EOCs and CFAI EOCs. That will do the job. Leave ethics and quant alone now, once you are done with it. You can do the second preparation much faster when you come back to them.
i studied accounting long time ago and i am a slow learner. i have noticed my capacity to study has increased as compared to what it was a month ago.if i could limit the no of unscheduled breaks in my study plan, i can study better ,faster.
Yup. Just follow my advice, you will do well. =)
My advice. Listen to Schweser Video and then go through the text(doesnt matter which one CFAI or Schweser) and then solve end of chapter CFAI.
Different subject areas take various amounts of time - I spent FOREVER (it seemed) on the taxes and long term debt / leases section of FR&A, but it was worth it. I spent a lot less time on Corporate Finance and Portfolio Management because it was easier for me to understand. Given how important FR&A is on the exam, it’s worth spending the time to learn it cold.
SS7 / 10 are easy ; 8/9 are difficult…Skip ethics after reading once…leave it for last month (Nov) FSA is a scoring topic to push up your overall score…Don’t think much about the time you are putting in…Focus on concepts and retention instead…I remember finishing half of FSA in 20 days (by mid Feb) and then did a big mistake by not revising it for nearly 1 month as i was concerned about other subjects…Ended up wasting quite a lot of time on last 2 months which could have been better utilized for other areas… ATB & see ya soon on L2 forum!
