"Gala" attire

people over here may mock kilts but these kind of dilemma that they prevent

Going to a wedding? Kilt

Going to a formal event? Kilt

Going to any sort of evening gathering that’s not at somebody’s house? Kilt

What do you think about the cheap Scot stereotype?

^ I think it’s definitely rooted in fact although the complexity people (read: the English) usually ignore is that it’s a cheapness that’s based on value rather than a lack of generosity or a desire to live a miserly existance like Vandy.

A Scotsman just will not pay over the odds for something and will always look to extract value or get a good deal beyond the point where an Englishman would let the views of others curtail his sense of value. An Englishman would rather get the raw end of a deal than appear uncouth. Scots usually care more about having money than they do about appearing to have money.

It’s not so obvious in NYC but in London the proportion of Scottish PMs in the industry is way in excess of what it should be for a country of 4m, and of course there’s the large number of buy side funds in Edinburgh with numerous companies with a global footprint. we’re just good with money.

I’ll stop there before I get tempted to crack out the face paint and belt out Scotland the Brave across the open plan office.

So you’re saying that Scots are basically uncircumsized Jews in Kilts.

Nailed it in that first line there.

Break out the single malt and play Bagpipes Greatest Hits Vol.2 over the PA system.

A Valentino suit and Oliver Peoples glasses.

Macaulay was a Scot.

^ I believe he was Canadian. However, we can claim Adam Smith, John Law and William Paterson (who founded the Bank of England, ironically enough)

Jewish Scot now has a tartan:

I thought Scots were cheap because they were poorer than the English? Jews OTOH were just better with money than gentiles.

He was born in Canada, but his heritage is Scottish.

^So was Ted Cruz, but he’s still somehow able to run for President.

^Which is weird because the Republicans are always maligning Obama for being born in Hawaii??
