@bchad RE: The Brotherhood Without Banners - Yes, that’s been bothering me too. The BWB stands up for the common folk and only raid soldiers (of all houses). Them killing a clan of simple folk is way out of character.
RE: Arya - No idea where this is going. The Faceless Men don’t mess up. D&D mess up though, so who knows?
As will be revealed by the end of the season, BWB is now under the command of Lady Stoneheart. I suspect we’ll find out that Brother Ray’s previous life made it necessary in Stoneheart’s mind for him and all associated with him to die.
I guess we got the answer to that last episode. I’m satisfied, although it feels a little cheap as a justification.
That Blackfish story evolution sure was anticlimactic. Count me disappointed. :-/
Arya’s story is ok, I guess, and at least promises some interesting turns. I think someone in this thread floated a theory that more or less turned out like it did tonight.
I kinda felt sorry for Cersei, which is hard to believe. But maybe it’s because I want to see the High Sparrow fail at some point.
Psyched about The Hound joining the Brotherhood. Glad Arya’s Braavos fiasco is over. She should have poked Needle through JH’s chest for the shit he made her go through. About time Daeny returned. And look - so many ships to take over and sail to Westeros. Will she even need Ironborn help now? Sorely disappointed with Blackfish’s storyline. Was expecting him to join the battle of the bastards. There’s so much going on!!! Can’t wait for next Sunday.
We didn’t see Blackfish die. We just heard he was dead. It’s possible he left because he knew that slowly being rowed away by Podrick was kind of a suicidal idea anyway. So I’m hoping it wasn’t a complete waste of an otherwise good character and actor.
However, even if he survives, it’s not like he is going to have much of an army to take with him. I suppose what is good are his leadership skills, so that could be useful.
Back in Danyland, I’m guessing that a big dragon is bad news for wooden ships.
It looks like the next episode may be entirely about the battle for Winterfell, and nothing else. On the one hand, I want to see Ramsay slaughtered. On the other hand, I’m sad that if that happens, we don’t get to see how Ramsay actually rules as lord of Winterfell, and whether being top dog there and legitimate forces him to change in any way. Then there’s the possibility that Ramsay wins, because that would be the best way to continue the tradition of “F- the Starks and all their s- about honor.”
Anyone else note how the Flayed Man shields look remarkably like the Union Jack when glimpsed rapidly. Somehow seems non-accidental to me.
YES! Another Abercrombie fan. Another parallel (more forced)… Jaime Lannister = Jezal Dan Luther. Early life of wealth, privilege, and vanity. Character arc in conjunction with disfigurment. There will NEVER be a parallel to inquisitor Glokta!
That’s the way I always read it too. It’s like anything Tolkien related. I have it all pretty well memorized, but on the very rare occasion I find myself in a conversation with another fan, we pronounce names very differently.
So it looks like season 7 and 8 are going to be 13 episodes *total*, which means that [including the two remaining eps of season 6] there are only 15 episdoes remaining.
I suppose a lot can be wrapped up in 15 hours, or perhaps they just decided to end it European-style, with White Walkers taking over everything…
I’m more inclined to think Blackfish really is dead. The lannister soldiers don’t have incentive to let him go and he was the primary target they were after. And if jamie wanted to see the body, the jig would be up right fast. Remember that prince oberon was built up well and he killed off right quick
