Get a job in finance as a engineering phd

I am now doing Phd in engineering field, and I would like to change my career and get a job in finance field after my phd, if possible. So, I am studying CFA and FRM.
What do you think of my plan? Would it be possible to be realized?

I would thank you if you offer your opinions to me.
Or is there any good precedents?

I worked with a physicist at PIMCO.

Yes, it’s possible.

A lot of my coworkers have PhDs in non-finance related fields (engineering, aerophysics, quantitative mathematics etc) and they knew next to nothing about finance when starting to work in a bank. So I think even without CFA/FRM you could make the transition. With the designations, it should be very easy. That’s my 2c.
