I delete posts that are quite clear they are leading to either flame wars, have unnecessary vulgar language, obvious racism etc…

Yesterday I deleted 3 posts back and forth between STL and someone else i forget where the guy said he was doing X to STL’s wife, etc. and it was going downhill quite fast.

After those were deleted, I actually got crap from both of them. guy bec I deleted it, and STL who wanted me to keep those so he could attack back.

So in trying to keep AF civil, I become the villian and instead of attacking each other, apparently now I’m the target.

Batman : “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” I can do those things, because I’m not a hero, not like Dent. I killed those people, that’s what I can be.

Ok its official Itera is now the Batman of AF.

Per post delete commentary is a lot of work to ask of people doing this for free.

Just curious, how many posts do you delete in a day?

I mean, it would only take an extra 7 seconds to hit the edit button, delete the comment, and replace it with “comment removed. Don’t be a dick.”

I mean, are you serious? The mod’s are already volunteering their time, it’s bad enough without having to dance around everybody’s toes for fear of not doing the most extensively koshur thing, which is why we always wind up with nobody doing anything because everyone bitched about each deletion, only to get a bunch of whining about lack of moderation later.

Itera, would it kill you to just print then retype each comment in a seperate “deleted” forum for us to read so we can all revel in whatever 5th grader response required deletion? It would also make sense if you compiled a brief 200 word explanation of your actions with sign offs from each of the other Boardmembers (time stamped obviously) as well as some supporting documentation and a TPS report of your group review of the comment. Don’t forget we’re doing coversheets on the TPS reports now, thanks!

I was really just asking the question. If it’s 30 posts per day per mod getting deleted I completely understand that. Excluding the last couple days, it would appear it doesn’t happen all that often. If it’s 1 post a day, I don’t think it’s too much to ask, and it would help set expectations for what’s acceptable.

And, not that you probably care, but I have no intention of giving you a hard time moving forward. Well, no more than anyone else anyway.

To all the mods, hopefully you guys know when we’re critical of the job you do it comes from a place of wanting to make the site better, not to attack you personally. You have a shitty, thankless job. For that, I promise if we ever meet up (someone should really use that calendar function for forming AF meet-ups) drinks are on me for the night. Even for you BS.

Going through this thread just made me realize I spent too much time here. Reading the above discourse is just proof that people take this shit way too seriously.

STL, definitely supported your ban the trolls movement but now you just look like you have an axe to grind with itera. Ever been a forum mod? It’s not an easy job, it’s time consuming and thankless work, not to mention dealing with the shit that comes from users you’re trying to protect. You got your original objective: RR and Gabe are both gone now. CvM too. Drink, detox and come back in a few days.

If this forum schism shit keeps up, you’re going to lose a lot more guys than just from the childish/trolling
