I hope to see the general public yapping away about how tax payer money should not be used to pay severance packages and pensions to GM employees. For some reason the general public wont see it this way, but in my opinion, it’s very similar to wall st taking TARP funds and paying bonuses. Current employees should not be allowed to sit on these pretty packages.
Not even close, a pensions is a lot closer to a 401k than a bonus. Would you want someone to take away your 401k if your company went bust?
Yes. I shant feel bad if I had been overpaid for years and them taking it away just evens the playing field between the Big 3 and Toyota/Honda compensation packages. This goes into the stupidity people at Ford have for buying $1/2 million homes on a car assembler’s wage… although grossly overpaid.
